JENOPTIK AG

The company operates in the optics and electronics sector. Jenoptik is a global technology group represented in around 80 countries on all continents.
Key markets include above all semiconductor equipment and the electronics industry, life science and medical technology, as well as traffic and security. However, the products can also be found in more exotic areas of application: For example, Jenoptik developed special lenses for NASA's "Mars 2020" mission, which support the "Perseverance" rover in navigation, hazard avoidance and sample collection on Mars.
Due to the many possible applications, the company has established three major divisions: The "Advanced Photonic Solutions" division is a global OEM and machinery supplier for photonics-based solutions and covers a broad portfolio of technologies in the fields of optics, laser technology, digital imaging, optoelectronics, sensor technology, and optical test and measurement solutions. The "Smart Mobility Solutions" division, on the other hand, offers photonics-based solutions for traffic and public safety as well as for toll control. And the "Non-Photonic Portfolio Companies" division ensures greater flexibility and efficiency in production processes, especially in the automotive industry, with its products and systems.
Jenoptik's history goes back to Carl Zeiss in 1846, when he opened his optical workshop. In the mid-1950s, JENOPTIK was entered in the register as a trademark. At the time of reunification, Jenoptik emerged as an independent company from the VEB Carl Zeiss Jena combine. Actually, it should have been history by 1995, but the first CEO and former Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Lothar Späth, had other plans: He reorganized the company, which is still headquartered in Jena today.
